VICTORIOUS LEADERSHIP RISE: LOYISO MASUKU SWORN IN AS JOHANNESBURG’S FIRST DEPUTY MAYOR


In a proud and historic moment for the City of Johannesburg, Loyiso Masuku has officially been sworn in as the metro’s first-ever Deputy Mayor. Her unopposed election by Council reflects strong confidence in her leadership, experience and commitment to public service.


The newly established position strengthens the executive leadership of the city and is aimed at improving governance, oversight and service delivery. Masuku steps into this important role with a clear mandate: to support Mayor Dada Morero and help accelerate stability and performance across municipal departments.


A respected leader and regional chairperson of the African National Congress in Johannesburg, Masuku brings valuable experience from her previous role as MMC for Finance. Her background in financial oversight positions her well to enhance accountability and ensure responsible management of public resources.


In her remarks following the swearing-in ceremony, Masuku reaffirmed her dedication to serving all residents of Johannesburg with professionalism, unity and transparency. She emphasised that service delivery remains a top priority and pledged to work collaboratively with council members, officials and community stakeholders.
