The 4th edition of the Mayibuye iAfrika Concert, now proudly rebranded as The Rebirth of Ubuntu Concert, delivered a powerful and unforgettable celebration of culture at the South African State Theatre . The event drew overwhelming praise as audiences embraced a night dedicated to unity, transformation, and the living spirit of diversity.

Created as an independent platform that honours cultural expression and national identity, The Rebirth of Ubuntu Concert stood out as a moving artistic journey. Under the visionary direction of celebrated guitarist, composer, and author Billy Monama, the four hour showcase blended South Africa’s historic rhythms with modern sounds, linking generations through one shared artistic heartbeat.

A major highlight of the evening was the exceptional 20-piece orchestra, arranged and conducted by Grammy Award winning producer Joe Arthur. The orchestra delivered a rich and breathtaking soundscape that captivated both audiences and critics.
Reflecting on the night, Monama shared: “Rebirth of Ubuntu is more than a show; it’s a cultural declaration. It honours our past, reminds us of who we are, and invites us to envision a compassionate future together.”
The programme featured a powerful lineup of South Africa’s most respected and loved artists, including Simphiwe Dana, Judith Sephuma, Maleh, Langa Mavuso, Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse, and Elvis Blue. Each performer brought their unique voice and energy to the stage, creating a vibrant musical tapestry that celebrated Ubuntu and artistic excellence. The concert drew in Afro soul and African jazz lovers, arts and culture supporters, business leaders, and modern, forward-thinking audiences.
