The Swaneville Men’s Forum celebrated its third anniversary in style on Friday, 17 July 2026, at Jesus Is Alive Christian Centre, bringing together community members, leaders, partners and stakeholders for a day of recognition, empowerment and hope.
The event marked three years of the forum’s commitment to building stronger men, empowering young boys and creating safer, more united communities. A highlight of the celebration was an awards ceremony honouring community leaders, organisations and individuals whose dedication continues to make a meaningful impact.
The celebration was supported by several partners and stakeholders, including Sisonke Development Projects, Young Minds Entertainments, the Gauteng Department of Social Development Men’s Forum, the Department of Communications, Dr. Zukisani “Dr. Zee” Mxoli, Dr. Ndebele, Eric Ndebele Clinic Wellness, Lifeline, CPA NPO, Thlalifang NPO, Itereleng Development Projects, Ntokozweni Home Based Care, Mthopelo the Poet, Bakone Home Based Care, Westview Clinic and the Office of Ward 35 Councillor.
Guest speaker Dr. Zukisani Mxoli (Dr. Zee) encouraged attendees to rise above life’s challenges and focus on opportunities rather than setbacks. Speaking about family, education, investment and giving back to communities, he shared his personal journey as an inspiration.
“See positively in the midst of negativity. I grew up without a father, but I still grew up. Don’t only focus on what was absent; recognise what was present. God strengthened my mother to become both a mother and a father. Too often we complain about what we have lost and fail to appreciate what we still have. We are here, we are alive, and we must make the most of the present.”
His message resonated with attendees, who applauded his call for resilience, personal growth and community responsibility.
The anniversary also served as a platform to encourage men to support one another, build meaningful relationships and reclaim their role as positive role models within their families and communities.
GreenWorld Consultant Mr. Khulani Ncube praised the initiative, saying it created a platform for men, women and young people to work together in addressing community challenges.
“This event is important because it brings together men, women and young people to discuss issues that can help build our community. Many young people have lost hope and become involved in social ills, drugs and substance abuse. Forums like this help rebuild our youth and strengthen men.”
In the spirit of Mandela Day’s 67 Minutes of Service, the Swaneville Men’s Forum donated clothing to community members, demonstrating that community service remains at the heart of the organisation’s mission.
Founder of Jesus Is Alive Christian Centre, Bishop Ndebele, welcomed the work being done by the forum and pledged his continued support.
“The work of the Swaneville Men’s Forum is building men and strengthening our community. I have learnt valuable lessons today, and I encourage the forum to continue making a difference.”
As the Swaneville Men’s Forum celebrated three years of impact, its message remained clear: when men are empowered, families are strengthened and communities thrive.
The event concluded with the presentation of awards and certificates to community champions in recognition of their outstanding leadership, selfless service and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others.
