Subaru South Africa and VOX Weather partner to drive all-weather confidence with the Crosstrek

Subaru Southern Africa is proud to announce a partnership with VOX Weather, one of South Africa’s fastest-growing and most trusted online weather forecasting platforms. This collaboration brings together advanced meteorological insight and Subaru’s renowned engineering to highlight the marque’s core promise: confidence in all weather conditions.

At the heart of Subaru products is the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (SAWD) system, a feature that is standard across the local lineup. Developed and refined over decades, SAWD ensures balanced power distribution and stability, allowing Subaru vehicles to maintain consistent handling across changing weather and road conditions, from wet and dry surfaces to gravel, sand, and mud.

VOX Weather, led by meteorologists Annette Botha and Michelle du Plessis, will be behind the wheel of a Crosstrek 2.0iS-ES CVT, the range-topping model in the Crosstrek lineup. With 220 mm of ground clearance and the SAWD system, the Crosstrek is suited to support VOX Weather’s fieldwork, including travel to remote and challenging locations for outside broadcasts and extreme weather coverage.

“By aligning with VOX Weather across digital platforms and radio, Subaru Southern Africa aims to demonstrate how a capable, all-weather vehicle can reduce the stress of daily commuting and empower drivers to navigate any journey with confidence,” commented Nteo Nkoli, National Marketing Manager at Subaru Southern Africa. “Furthermore, this partnership underscores Subaru’s dedication to delivering vehicles that are engineered and designed to provide peace of mind, no matter where the road – or forecast – leads.”

Finished in Sand Dune Pearl, a new colour for the Crosstrek, the vehicle will feature in VOX Weather’s “Beyond the Forecast” series, with four episodes set to be released this year YouTube channel. Exploring diverse weather conditions and environments across South Africa, the series will showcase the Crosstrek in a range of real-world settings, highlighting Subaru’s focus on versatility.

“At Vox Weather, all-weather confidence is part of what we do every day. The Subaru Crosstrek gives our team the capability and peace of mind to travel where the story is, helping us bring weather coverage to our audience from the field and beyond the forecast,” remarked Botha and du Plessis.

The Crosstrek 2.0iS-ES CVT is powered by a 115 kW 2.0-litre four-cylinder Boxer engine, producing 196 N·m of torque. Paired with Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT, power is seamlessly delivered to all four wheels, ensuring confident performance in a range of conditions. With fuel consumption rated at just 7.2 L/100 km, the Crosstrek offers an impressive driving range of up to 875 km on a single tank.
