The Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) is stepping up its work to renew key public spaces across the province, continuing its wider effort to tackle the 13 major challenges facing Gauteng under the G13 programme.

On Friday, 7 November 2025, several GPG departments will join forces with the City of Johannesburg, the Jozi My Jozi civil movement, and the Johannesburg Inner City Partnership for the latest round of Integrated G13 Service Delivery Operations. This week’s focus is the Joubert Park Precinct, including the Cathedral area, Park Station, and Nugget Street.

The operation will target better lighting, stronger security measures, and improved cleanliness. Government leaders say the goal is to restore dignity in the city’s oldest neighbourhoods, encourage new investment, and create safer, more liveable spaces for the thousands of residents, workers, and commuters who move through the inner city every day.

The continued revitalisation of Joubert Park is seen as a key sign of government responding to community concerns and working closely with civic partners to rebuild confidence in Johannesburg’s urban core.
