WILL CASRIC CAUSE ANOTHER UPSET?

CASRIC Stars’ trip to another PSL powerhouse AmaZulu FC on Saturday is a test to determine if they are good enough to compete in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) next season in case they get promoted. Casric are looking for an automatic promotion to the PSL, and looking at their position on the National First Division (NFD) log standings this current campaign, their chances are high. The Mpumalanga outfit, who are fourth on the NFD log table, are looking to solicit a straight promotion to the PSL.They’ve already made their statement this season, having played 19 games, losing three and collecting 34 points. It’s also not a big margin looking at the points gap between them and teams above them. Bucs Mthombeni, coach and co-founder of Casric Stars, told Ezimtoti News ahead of their match against Usuthu: “It’s going to be another tough game, but then we will be ready,” said Bucs. “Arthur Zwane is a good coach. I think they play good football. And I think they defend very well. If you could look at their last three games, they only conceded two goals. I think they defend very well and can also attack. It’s just that they are not scoring goals.” His intention is to score early and make sure that AmaZulu don’t score. They are also planning to make a few changes by bringing in a few fresh legs to help the team get to the next round of the Nedbank Cup competition. “But the main objective is to try to get an automatic promotion to the PSL. Eleven games to go. But for this weekend, we are only planning for AmaZulu.” To reach the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup, they beat Orlando Pirates 5-4 on penalties. The game was at Orlando Amstel Arena. Now they have another big team in AmaZulu to beat to get to the semi-finals of the competition.
