TS Galaxy assistant coach Bernard Parker has emphasised the importance of securing victory in Sunday’s Nedbank Cup fixture against a third-tier side, Jacksa Spears FC.

The Rockets will go into this fixture without their head coach Adnan Beganovic on the bench after he was suspended due to accumulating four yellow cards.

But according to Parker, they have to by all means win Sunday’s fixture against the ABC Motsepe League side to ensure that they make the chairman and their supporters, as well as everyone associated with the team, happy.

Kickoff is at 3pm, and the match will take place at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in Mpumalanga, where the team was formerly established back in 2015.

“It would be a great disappointment if we did not get over this round right now,” said the young mentor, who said it was important to go back there and give their all. This is Parker’s month, as he will be turning 40 years of age on March 16.

He won the Nedbank Cup in 2013 when he was still a player playing for Kaizer Chiefs and he also anticipates the possibility of winning it again as a coach of Galaxy.

He featured in another Nedbank Cup final in 2019 while still at Amakhosi, but unfortunately he was not on the winning side that time around.

The Rockets came out victorious on the day and history can repeat itself this coming Sunday and Parker can be very proud of they win and move on to the next round of the competition.

The Rockets became the first ever lower-rank team to win the Nedbank Cup since its inception. Will Jacksa Spears FC cause an upset and become the second third-tier team to win the Cup? We shall see when it happens this Sunday.

Parker tells Ezimtoti News: “It all matters what happens on the day. And our preparations currently, it’s just for us to make sure that we get back to basics and get back to being in the right mental levels in terms of how we have been working and what we have built to get us thus far.”

In the league, Galaxy has lost just 10 matches, drawn three and won seven. They’re sitting on 24 points with 10 matches to go before the end of the current 2025/26 season.
