Standard Bank, Africa’s largest bank by assets, proudly hosted the second annual CSI Volunteering Impact Awards, a celebration honouring employees whose compassion and community service continue to change lives across South Africa.

First launched in 2024, the awards recognise Standard Bank staff and the organisations they support , people who show extraordinary dedication, give generously of their time, and work tirelessly to uplift communities.

“At Standard Bank, we believe true impact begins with the courage to care,” says Dr Kirston Greenop, Head of Corporate Citizenship at Standard Bank Group. “Every day, remarkable employees step forward not for applause, but to bring hope, change lives, and strengthen the communities we serve.”

In 2025 alone, more than 3,000 volunteers across South Africa contributed their time, expertise, and donations, giving a combined R1.18 million to meaningful causes.

A major driver of this generosity is the bank’s pioneering Rand4Rand Matching Programme, which doubles the value of every Rand donated by employees. Since inception, the programme has raised millions, supporting key social initiatives in education, healthcare, economic empowerment and environmental sustainability.

This commitment reflects a deeper culture at Standard Bank , one where corporate responsibility is not just financial, but rooted in humanity, care and active involvement.

The awards honour excellence across five categories:

Individual Excellence Award

Team Collaboration Award

Changemaker Award

Dedicated Ambassador Award

Future Leaders Award

Each winner receives R100,000 to donate to the cause they volunteered with during the year, ensuring the impact continues beyond the event.

“We are proud to be an organisation that invests in the communities where we work and live,” concludes Dr Greenop. “These awards celebrate those who carry the spirit of service and compassion , values at the heart of our purpose. Africa is our home, we drive her growth.”
