Renowned saxophonist and jazz icon McCoy Mrubata has just returned from a highly successful spring tour across the United States, where he captivated audiences with his dynamic performances in both intimate duet settings and full-band showcases.
U.S. Tour Highlights Maine Performances: Mrubata performed in a duet format with acclaimed American guitarist Gary Wittner, delivering a spellbinding blend of jazz and African influences.
New York Showcases:
He reunited with his American sextet, “Siyabulela” for electrifying performances at Dizzy’s Jazz Club (Jazz at Lincoln Center) and Newport Live, where he debuted new original material.
New Music Preview:
Among the fresh compositions, the crowd-favorite “Shukuma” a tribute to the great Dr.Black Moses Ngwenya , founding member of the legendary “Soul Brothers” stood out.
This is one of the tracks that will be recorded later this year at a New Jersey studio with his U.S.
band.
