RESIDENTS of Reitvallei Extensions 2 and 3 took their service delivery concerns to the streets during a Service Delivery Awareness Walk hosted by the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation Youth Club on Saturday, 3 October 2026.
The walk, which started at the local clinic, brought together community members, young people, elderly residents, people with disabilities, Ward 34 Councillor Nhlanhla Nhlapo and other stakeholders.

The initiative created a platform for residents to speak directly to authorities about challenges affecting their daily lives.
Among the concerns raised were unemployment, sewage problems, poor service delivery, crime and substance abuse, a lack of opportunities for young people, inadequate sports facilities, dilapidated houses, water shortages, electricity and roads.
During the walk, Councillor Nhlapo and Human Settlements officials visited households where residents required housing assistance and repairs.
One of those visited was 76-year-old Daniel Mokwena, who applied for an RDP house but remains on the waiting list. Human Settlements officials committed to investigating outstanding cases and assisting qualifying beneficiaries.

Ahmed Kathrada Foundation Youth Club chairperson Voilet Sikhosana urged residents to take an active role in improving their community.
“We are the change that we need. Let us all work together in building one youth, one community and Reitvlei,” she said.
Councillor Nhlapo welcomed the engagement, saying it would strengthen communication between residents and ward representatives.
The walk ended on a positive note when the Mogale City Municipality Mayor’s Office, in partnership with the youth club, donated and distributed sanitary pads to community members.
