Pupils who do well academically get recognition.

Thuto-Pele secondary school holds learner achievement awards every year during the same time to encourage their pupils to do even more as they’re about to write their final exam in a few months time.

These achievement awards not only inspire the pupils who did well in their irrespective subjects, but even the pupils who did not achieve high marks are inspired to do better next time.

The school issues certificates to pupils in grade 8 -12.

The school from Kagiso, in the West Rand believes that recognising the Top 5 pupils in each grade, will instill a culture of healthy competition and continuous improvement.

Top Achievers:

Grade 8: Mhlauli Dineo

Grade 9: Sehere Koketso Martha and Molefe Lesego Precious

Grade 10: Nocanda Lesedi

Grade 11: Langa Emmanuel

Grade 12: Tshepang Shomang with 7 distinctions

Member of School Governing Body Phathutsedzo Monteleone said for those who did not receive any award doesn’t mean they’re not good enough but they can do better next time.

“That’s the reason we do this ceremony annually in Mid- Term. If you didn’t do well this term, you can still do it in the 3rd and 4th terms.”
