RAINBOW Seeds, an NPO based in Rusteburg, North West organised a dialogue on LGBTQIA.
LGBTQIA is an acronym for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual. This important event took place at Letlhabile POP NN Center on Friday 15 May.
The dialogue brought together a variety of stakeholders to discuss topics including human rights, HIV, TB, STs, health awareness, and LGBTQIA + inclusion.
The purpose of the dialogue was to increase public awareness of the rights of the LGBTQIA community and to establish more secure and encouraging environments where members could share their identities and experiences with the larger community. Important topics like identity, mental health, human rights, healthcare access, and the difficulties LGBTQIA society as a whole faces were also covered on the platform.
In addition to encouraging locals to live in harmony with LGBTQIA individuals, the event sought to advance empowerment, solidarity, and unity.
“Everyone deserves dignity, respect, and equal opportunities regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation,” stated Thapelo Setuki, an advocacy officer.
He urges people to keep raising their voices, encouraging one another, and establishing safer environments where everyone is respected, seen, and heard.

The purpose of this campaign was to raise awareness, fortify networks of support, disseminate important information, and provide a forum for LGBTQIA individuals to express their concerns and continue fighting for their rights.
Tumisang Kole, a social worker, emphasized the significance of holding such a dialogue by stating:
We celebrate diversity and inclusivity while addressing issues impacting the LGBTQIA community and interacting with them through events like Beyond Binary Diologue. Continue speaking up, fostering a sense of community, and encouraging one another. There are communities, professionals, and allies supporting you; you are not alone.
