ENSURING that Mzansi women are healthy before, during and after giving birth is important.
That is why Health and Wellness Portfolio Committee which falls under Gauteng Provincial Legislature has for years moving from one town to another educating women, and the rest of South Africa about women’s health.
There are four leading causes of maternal deaths in South Africa which is hypertension, medical-surgical disorders, infections (such as TB) and obstetric haemorrhage.
So tomorrow, February 28, at 10am the health and wellness portfolio committee will travel to Mogale City Centenary Hall, in the West Rand where they will evaluate whether the Gauteng Department of Health has implemented the Saving Mothers’ report recommendations.
Identified gaps in maternal healthcare services and as well as to hear from experts and stakeholders in a bid to find solutions to these challenges.
So tomorrow’s key areas of discussion include:
, Implementation of the 2017-2019 and 2020-2022 triennial report recommendations.
,Training and capacity – building for healthcare personnel.
, Effectiveness of maternal health interventions.
, Challenges in implementing national guidelines.
, Strategies to enhance maternal healthcare services.
