To celebrate FlySafair turning 12 this year, South Africa’s favourite low-cost airline is going live with its highly anticipated Birthday Sale tomorrow, 6 May 2026. From 9am, the airline will release 50 000 one‑way seats across its domestic network, with base fares starting from just R12. The sale will take place exclusively on FlySafair’s website, flysafair.co.za.
This year, the sale works a little differently. Given the current spike in jet fuel pricing due to the Middle East conflict, airport taxes and applicable fuel surcharges will be added on top of the base fare price. These will be clearly displayed throughout the booking process, in line with FlySafair’s commitment to transparent, upfront pricing – and it still makes for one of the best flight bargains around.
As with previous sales, the airline will once again operate a waiting room to ensure a fair sale experience for customers. Entry into the booking site is completely randomised, meaning it’s not about who logs in first – it’s all down to luck. Customers are selected by chance and will be given 10 minutes to complete their purchase.
While waiting, customers will be able to search for flights using the Birthday Fare Finder, play the Flappy Plane game and take part in FlySafair’s competition to win free flights for two people for six months.
The FlySafair app remains available for bookings, while the Birthday Sale runs exclusively on the airline’s website. Customers who aren’t looking for a sale fare can also use Lindi AI to make bookings via WhatsApp by messaging the FlySafair helpline on 087 357 0030.

As always, customers are encouraged to book only through flysafair.co.za and FlySafair’s verified channels to avoid scams.
