Helping South Africans One Meal at a Time

To mark World Food Day, Kellanova South Africa (formerly Kellogg’s) has teamed up with the National Department of Agriculture in KwaZakhele, Gqeberha, to support communities facing hunger. As part of this effort, they’ve donated around 139,000 meals to people in need.

But their work doesn’t stop there. In 2025 alone, Kellanova provided over 2.3 million meals to schools in Gqeberha to help tackle school hunger and support children’s learning.

According to Stats SA, more than 1 in 5 households in South Africa face food insecurity. That’s why Kellanova is committed to making sure everyone has a place at the table—with a focus on food access, well-being, sustainability, and inclusion.

Feeding Minds and Bodies

Since 2014, Kellanova has been part of the Eastern Cape community, making sure thousands of learners start their day with a nutritious breakfast. Today, they serve breakfast to nearly 11,780 learners in 15 schools across Gqeberha, in partnership with the Department of Basic Education.

Hungry children can’t focus in class, and that can affect their entire future. Kellanova believes no child should go to school hungry.

“On World Food Day, we renew our promise to help end hunger and create better days for South Africans,” says Philip Nieman, General Manager of Kellanova South Africa.
