THERE was an excited buzz in the air, as a wave of blue and colourful signs marched across Westonaria, directed to the SID Itumeleng Special School’s Autism Awareness Fun-Walk event on 22 May, this year.
And there was a large turnout in the early hours of the morning from the Westonaria community, its educators, parents, and other persons, as they all took part in the Fun-Walk organised for the children with Autism at the school.
This event, led by parents, pupils, and educators at the school show support for children with Autism and their families. Suzan Motjuwadi, principal of Itumeleng Special School in Westonaria, said the following stakeholders participated in the programme.

* Autism South Africa The walk was aimed to educate and promote understanding and compassion for Autism throughout the community.

The walk was also a Fun-Walk as all the proceeds were donated to the school for its operational and programmatic needs.
