A powerful celebration of music, heritage and unity is set to light up the iconic Joburg Theatre as the Rebirth of Ubuntu Concert returns for its fifth spectacular edition, proudly powered by headline sponsor Capitec.

Taking place over two electrifying nights on 29 and 30 May 2026 at 19:30, the concert promises a vibrant musical journey that honours South Africa’s cultural richness. Curated and produced by acclaimed guitarist and composer Billy Monama, the event brings together heritage, creativity and storytelling through music.
This year’s theme, “50 Years of Youth Legacy,” celebrates the enduring influence of South Africa’s youth in shaping the nation’s cultural and artistic landscape.
The stage will come alive with a dazzling lineup of celebrated artists. Multi-award-winning songstress Lira leads the star-studded cast, alongside the soulful jazz brilliance of Zoë Modiga. Audiences will also experience the heartfelt storytelling of Vusi Nova and the globally admired jazz elegance of Tutu Puoane.
Backed by a majestic 20-piece orchestra, the performances will create a breathtaking fusion of sound, rhythm and nostalgia. The evening will also honour legendary guitarist and composer Jimmy Dludlu as the special honorary artist, celebrating his profound contribution to South African jazz and contemporary music.
Supported by the City of Johannesburg, Brand South Africa and Arts Alive, the concert stands as a joyful tribute to creativity, unity and the enduring spirit of Ubuntu.
