BUSINESS LAUNCH A SUCCESS

We need entrepreneurship in order to create more jobs in this nation.

This has been the call of the Kasi people to rise up and be leaders in society so that the masses of this country can put food on the table for their families.

Talente Radebe, owner of a restaurant House Number 2, situated opposite Orlando Amstel Arena in Soweto, said a business must come from within. “You don’t just wake up one morning and decide to start an adventure. Business is something you grow with and develop over many years,” he said.

“When we bought the property, we initially wanted to demolish the old house. However, because of its heritage status, we were not allowed to demolish a structure that has existed for more than 90 years. We also did not want to purchase the house and depend solely on income generated from backyard rental rooms. Instead, our vision was to buy the property and establish a business that would create employment opportunities for the young people of this country.”

Talente said their main business is selling food, although they also sell alcohol. In addition, customers can also have their meat braaied, which has become an important part of what they offer.

Talente also stated that creating jobs is not solely the responsibility of the government; the private sector and people like themselves also play an important role.

House Number 2 in Orlando East, Soweto, opened to business in September last year. It was officially launched on Saturday and it attracted a lot of customers who came in their numbers and everyone had a great time.

When asked to share business tips with other people willing to venture into business someday, he said:
“If you have a business idea, don’t hesitate—strike while the iron is still hot and see where it takes you. “

Talente also owns other businesses in Orange Farm and the Vaal, including guesthouses. He plans to expand these ventures further if this new business continues to grow and succeed. “With expansion comes the opportunity to create even more jobs for local people,” he said.

Talente is a father of two children and is passionate about entrepreneurship and community development. However, he also acknowledged some of the challenges he has faced while running his businesses.

One of the biggest obstacles was securing a liquor license before purchasing House Number 2. He believes that government should provide greater support to entrepreneurs by making it easier for them to access the resources, permits, and assistance they need to operate legally and successfully.

According to Talente, if the government wants businesses to comply with regulations and contribute to economic growth, it must create a more supportive environment for entrepreneurs. This, he says, will ultimately help create more employment opportunities in Mzansi and improve the lives of South Africans.
