AFRICA’S FOOTBALL ROYAL RUMBLE BEGINS IN MOROCCO-AFCON 2025

Africa’s biggest football stage lights up Morocco as the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 kicks off on 21 December 2025 and runs until 18 January 2026. The continent’s finest 24 national teams will compete for pride, passion, and Africa’s most prestigious football crown.


Morocco, the host nation, opens the tournament in Group A against Comoros, with Mali and Zambia completing the group. Playing at home, the Atlas Lions will carry high expectations from fans across the country.


Group B features Egypt, South Africa (Bafana Bafana), Angola, and Zimbabwe. Group C includes Nigeria, Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania, while Group D brings together Senegal, DR Congo, Benin, and Botswana.


In Group E, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan will battle for survival. Group F sees defending champions Ivory Coast face Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique.


The group stage runs until 31 December. The Round of 16 begins on 3 January, followed by quarter-finals on 9 -10 January, semi-finals on 14 January, and the final on 18 January in Rabat.


Africa’s brightest stars are ready to shine, including Mohamed Salah (Egypt) and Victor Osimhen (Nigeria). For Bafana Bafana, all eyes will be on exciting talents Mbekezeli Mbokazi, Lyle Foster, and Mohau Nkota, expected to bring pace, hunger, and fresh energy to South Africa’s campaign.


With fierce rivalries, rising stars, and continental pride on the line, AFCON 2025 in Morocco promises unforgettable moments and a true celebration of African football.
