IT TOOK Orlando Pirates 14 years to be crowned league champions again. And the fans did not disappoint as they turned out in their numbers to fill-up Mbombela Stadium, with some also heading to Elker Stadium to watch the game on a large screen.
It was a great day yesterday to be an Orlando Pirates supporter and Amstel, as Pirates’ sponsor, organised the match viewing.

Hundreds of people from across the country, and the rest of the continent watched the game from home, and many waiting to see if the boys will indeed dethrone Mamelodi Sundowns who have been winning this league for eight years in a row. Pirates have managed to pull up a 2-nil victory against Orbit College FC, who desperately needed a win yesterday to avoid automatic relegation.
But Pirates on the other hand had to win the game for them to be champions of the Betway Premiership otherwise it was going to be a bad finish for Ezimnyama had they failed to win that game. Pirates finished the 2025/26 Betway Premiership with 69 points while the outgoing champs Sundowns managed to secure 68 points after 30 matches.
