
“Bringing Unity, Culture and Empowermemt to Kagiso”. On Satirday, 28th June 2025. Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation recently organised Community Outreach Programme in collaboation with various stakeholders in Art sector such as Mogale City Art and Forum, Adams Rocks, Reish Divine Institute. Hosted at Memorial and Recreation Centre.
Various West Rand Arts Sector groups came together under one roof during Youth Month to perform and showcased their unique talents.
The campaign served as a dynamic platform to promote and preserve cultural practices, provide a exposure to local artists and performers and celebrate the rich diversity and their unique identities. By transforming the Memorial and Recreation Centre into a hub of artistic expression and cultural dialogue. The campaign offered the emerging dancers, musicians, and visual artists a chance to showcase their talents, connect with peers and egage in meaningful conversation around arts and culture.

As a Acting Director for Gauteng Departmen of Communications and Culture Mr. Tumelo Taunyane said, ” The Youth of Kagiso are encouraged to take full adavantage of the Memorial and Recreation Centre – not only as a space to expresss themselves and do what they love, but as a facility that belongs to them as broader kagiso community”.

The intiative also highligted the importance of community spaces in nurturing local artits.
As a founder of Art Gallery based in Kagiso 2, Mr. Kgosi Khumalo said, ” As local artits we are happy to be recognised and collaborate with government department of Sport, Arts and Culture as our talents would be taken seriously. It is a big day for us as West Rands Artits and today, we are celebrating as one”.
Overrall, the event fostered unity, inspird creativity, and empowered the Youth through the unifying power of the arts.laying a foundation for contibued cultural enrichment and community engagement.
