The Azania Movement hosted a press briefing at the Garden Top Hotel in Bezuidenhout Valley, Johannesburg, focusing on migration, safety, and community stability.
The briefing was led by the Movement’s executive leadership, including Nolubabalo Mcinga, President, Connie Mapedi, National Chairperson, and Thapelo Mofokeng, National Spokesperson. The leaders outlined the organisation’s position on migration, border management, and the impact of undocumented migration on local communities.
Speakers stressed the need for lawful processes, stronger enforcement of existing laws, and open dialogue that puts South Africans first while upholding human dignity. The leadership said communities are facing growing pressure from unemployment, crime, and limited access to services, and argued that weak immigration control worsens these challenges.
Although the briefing had earlier been advertised as a joint engagement, Operation Dudula did not attend or participate on the day, and no representatives from the group addressed the media. The briefing therefore proceeded solely under the leadership and direction of the Azania Movement.
Addressing journalists, the Movement emphasised that it supports peaceful engagement and lawful advocacy. It said its approach is focused on practical solutions, accountability, and constructive engagement with government and civil society, rather than confrontation.
Members of the media were given the opportunity to ask questions, with discussions centred on policy direction, enforcement, and the role of civic movements in shaping national conversations on migration and security.
The Azania Movement said it plans to continue engaging communities across the country and will issue further updates through official briefings and statements. The leadership thanked members of the media and supporters who attended, reaffirming the Movement’s commitment to social justice, safety, and economic dignity for South Africans.
