Kaizer Chiefs welcome Tshwane giants Mamelodi Sundowns for what promises to be one serious football showdown this afternoon. Kick-off is at 3pm, and for Amakhosi there is only one mission which is to go out there and try collect the maximum points although it is not going to be an easy thing as all.
Chiefs have been showing signs of improvement, putting together some encouraging performances and collecting valuable points against teams they played against so far this season. Now comes the big test, can they take that momentum into a heavyweight clash against Sundowns?
And Chiefs defender Thabiso Monyane believes there is plenty of reason for confidence.
“We drew twice with Sundowns last season, and all I can say is there’s improvement,” said Monyane.
“We know their strengths, we know their weaknesses, and we’ll look to keep up on that. It’s a very interesting game, a very epic clash.”
These words will certainly give the Amakhosi faithful something to smile about. Before this match Chiefs know exactly what stands in their way. Sundowns on the other hand are not a team that gives you time to breathe, but Amakhosi have shown that they can stand toe-to-toe with the Tshwane giants. Now, the question is whether they can go one step further and turn those draws into a victory.
