A new football development initiative, Africa United, has officially been launched, opening an exciting pathway for South Africa’s most promising young footballers. The programme is designed to identify and nurture top 17- and 18-year-old players based in South Africa, giving them a rare opportunity to showcase their talent on an international stage.

Announced during an official launch and press conference, the initiative is being rolled out in partnership with EURO SOCCER, a network of experienced European football scouts and development specialists. Their role will be to assist with identifying elite talent and guiding the selection process.

As part of the programme, nationwide scouting visits are scheduled for April 2026, where promising players will be assessed by professional scouts and coaches. From these trials, 18 outstanding players will be selected to form the Africa United squad.

The selected team will then travel to Spain in June 2026 to compete in an international youth football tournament, where they will face top academies and teams from around the world. The tournament will give the players valuable international exposure and an opportunity to catch the attention of global football scouts.

Organisers say the project is more than just a scouting exercise. Africa United aims to create a strong development platform that connects grassroots South African talent with the global football market.

With professional scouting, international competition, and a focus on youth development, Africa United is rolling forward with a clear mission, to unlock the next generation of South African football stars and place them
