Golf has long been recognised as one of the world’s most powerful networking platforms, where business deals are concluded, partnerships are formed and lifelong relationships are built. Yet for many professionals, the golf course remains an intimidating space.
On 14 August this year, Club Como aims to change that narrative by hosting South Africa’s first dedicated on-course Beginners Golf Day at the Wanderers Golf Club.
The groundbreaking initiative has been designed specifically for professionals who are new to the game, creating a welcoming and judgement-free environment where learning, networking and enjoyment take priority over handicaps and scorecards.
While many executives and entrepreneurs have embraced golf as an important business tool, countless aspiring players spend years practising at driving ranges and attending golf clinics without ever stepping onto a golf course because they fear being judged. Club Como hopes to remove that barrier by giving beginners the confidence to experience the game in a supportive setting.
During the event, experienced golfers will accompany each fourball, guiding participants through golf etiquette, the rules of the game and on-course management to ensure an enjoyable and educational first golfing experience.
Organisers say the Beginners Golf Day is about much more than introducing people to golf. It is designed to open doors to business opportunities, help professionals build confidence, create authentic relationships and make one of the world’s leading networking environments more accessible.

The event will also include a charity auction in support of non-profit organisations that are making a meaningful impact in communities, ensuring that every swing contributes towards changing lives and supporting important social initiatives.
Club Como believes the initiative presents an opportunity to redefine business networking in South Africa while promoting inclusion and confidence among first-time golfers. The organisation has also invited media partners to support and help showcase this pioneering event.
